If you have ever lost or damaged your favorite Xbox game CD, you will understand how I felt when my pet dog scratched all over the disc damaging it irreparably. Till then, I hadn’t realized the need to preserve or copy Xbox game. Since I am technology illiterate, I approached a couple of my gaming friends who immediately schooled me on the various aspects of how to copy Xbox game.

The first thing I learnt is that all original Xbox CDs come with an encryption code to protect their games from piracy. To break these security codes, I purchased a specific software package that is compatible to the console system I own. The next step to do to copy Xbox game is to connect your gaming system to your PC using an Ethernet crossover cable.

Once this is loaded, the original Xbox game files should be converted to the .ISO format using software like XISO or Qwix. Next, an appropriate game copying media like DVD-R, DVD-RW or CD-RW should be inserted to begin the burning process. Once this is complete, you are in possession of an exact copy of your original game.

But it is not enough to just copy Xbox game. To actually play these backup copies on your console, it should be fitted with a suitable Mod Chip which will modify the BIOS of the Xbox. This requires a lot of soldering work which is best when left in the hands of an expert. Remember it is impossible to play the copied games without a Mod Chip even though many people may tell you otherwise.

Now that I am aware of all the nuances of how to copy Xbox game, I immediately set about making a backup of all my precious CDs and thereby preserving my original one for years.

It is quite frustrating to see the ‘disk error’ message on your gaming console when you insert your favorite Xbox game. This means you have damaged the game CD beyond repair and cannot play it anymore. But now there is no more need to worry about losing your games again. With the right tools, you can backup or copy Xbox game preserving them forever.
