This article is about “Malwarebytes update failed. make sure”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Malwarebytes update failed. make sure”:

“Why is my computer running slow?” Many of us wonder this as our sluggish computer boots up at a snails pace, struggles with multi-tasking and can’t seem to ever open up our web browser. A slow computer can really be a pain, so what can we do about it.

If your computer is extremely old, you may want to consider just getting a new one but if that isn’t possible at this time, you can try these 5 steps to speeding up your computer.

1. Check the programs listed in your start up. When you install new programs, they sometimes add themselves to your start up list which can decrease your boot process and slow down your computer. Most of these programs are not even needed on a regular basis. One method of clearing out these programs is to type “MSCONFIG” at the run command, select the startup tab and remove the programs you can do without at startup.

2. Scan for viruses, spyware and malware. First, make sure you have an anti-virus program installed on your pc and don’t go on the internet or check your email if your anti-virus is not active and keep it updated with the latest protection database. I would also suggest scanning your computer monthly or bi-monthly (at least) with a spyware and malware program. Good free versions of these programs are Spybot and Malwarebytes.

3. Check your registry for issues. Windows uses the registry to keep track of all your programs, file locations and settings. If this database becomes corrupt or damaged, it could cause some major issues so its best to clean and organize when possible. There are many registry cleaners out there but many are scams, so I use one from a reputable company that makes a great disk cleaner as well. CCleaner is great for checking your registry for issues and fixing the problems. It can also scan your computer for files that are no longer needed and safely remove them to free up hard drive space.

4. Defragment your hard drive. Every time you use your pc it has to find a place to put data on your hard drive, so it is constantly fragmenting the drive and needs to be defragmented on a regular schedule. Instead of using the defragmenting program that comes with windows, try out Defraggler. This program will get your hard drive to zero fragmentation, as the windows defragmenting program always leaves some files fragmented. Defraggler is best used in safemode so that minimal files will be in use which makes it more efficient for moving files around and getting them all lined up for an increase in hard drive speed.

5. The dreaded hard drive re-format. If all else fails and you are just fed up with dealing with a slow computer, formatting the hard drive and reinstalling a fresh copy of your operating system is always nice to do as you once again have complete control over what is on your hard drive. Before starting a re-format, make sure you back up your files, favorites, music, photos, docs and other important files. If you go this route, you will also have to reinstall you programs, anti-virus and windows updates and service packs.

This article is about “Malwarebytes update failed”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Malwarebytes update failed”:

Is your computer not as fast as it used to be? Do you consistently get application crashes, “time outs” and the dreaded hourglass? When you press the power button on your computer in the morning, can you start the coffee, take a shower, style your hair and get dressed, all before your computer is finished booting?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, your computer needs more than another cup of coffee. It needs a tune-up. You probably already know that there are a myriad of ways that a computer repair professional can help you. But, unfortunately, not everyone can afford to call a computer repair specialist every time something breaks – especially those hardest hit by the current economic downturn.

I’ll be honest, here. As a computer repair consultant and owner of a computer repair shop in Colorado, I am not one to suggest the use of free tools very often. When someone can afford to purchase software, I usually advise them to purchase a quality retail product, because the paid-for software is typically far superior and the user is entitled to support.

In my experience, free tools are usually either crippled versions of their related non-free products, or simply don’t do a good enough job to be useful. But, there are a few free tools that are exceptions to that rule, and offer a good product for those who genuinely cannot afford to purchase off-the-shelf software.

So, with that being said, here are my 5 suggestions for free tools to speed up your slow computer. All 5 of these popular tools can be searched for and found easily through Google.

1. CCleaner

CCleaner is legendary for its usefulness in helping rid computer systems of any and all junk that has accumulated on a hard drive. However, there is a hidden gem in CCleaner: its ability to find and clean problems in the registry.

Using CCleaner once per week will keep your system running pretty smoothly all by itself. But, combining it with the other tools listed below will give you some synergistic results. For example, in our computer repair shop, we use CCleaner before any antivirus scan because it will help the scan go much faster (the resulting drive has fewer files to scan).

2. Startup Inspector for Windows

In case you didn’t know, too many programs that load on start-up can quickly cripple a good computer. Limiting start-up programs to only the bare essentials is an excellent way to reclaim much lost speed. Some people even go to extremes and disable all start-up programs and non-Microsoft services, but that can have a negative impact on things such as backup schedules, antivirus protection, and useful keyboard shortcut keys.

Startup Inspector for Windows takes the guess work out of this process. Not only does this utility take the place of MSCONFIG’s very limiting interface for managing start-up programs, but it also has the ability to access a database of known start-up programs. It will even give you suggestions for disabling certain applications, or leaving them intact so as to not limit the functionality of certain programs.

3. Malwarebytes

Nothing chokes a computer’s speed faster than Malware. But, how do you sort the good from the bad? Is that toolbar you installed a bad program? How about that game you love to play online? Could that “coupon finding” toolbar that you just installed be a virus in disguise?

That’s where Malwarebytes can help. It’s one of the best free malware removal utilities that I know of. Many seasoned computer repair technicians swear by it. Although the free version of Malwarebytes is “crippleware” (the free version doesn’t provide real-time protection), it does a very good job if run manually on a regular basis.

4. Avast Antivirus

Avast is a program that I’ve warmed up to over the years. As I stated earlier, I’m picky about that software I recommend. That goes double for antivirus protection, because antivirus protection is usually your only barrier between you and the scumbags of the Internet. I will never respect those who would steal and use someone else’s identity and/or financial information to get something for nothing, rather than to work honestly for what they want.

If you absolutely cannot afford antivirus protection, do not go without it. Instead, download Avast Home Edition. Avast Home Edition is completely free, but you do have to register it before the 60 day trial has expired. Registration is free, and afterward you can use it for a year before having to re-register. In addition to being free, Avast works pretty well, too.

5. Defraggler

Without getting into the technical details of what fragmentation is, or how it happens, let’s just say that if you haven’t defragmented your hard drive lately, you are probably overdue. Defragging your hard drive is like reorganizing your storage closet. It makes things easier (and therefore quicker) to find.

There are very few tools that rival Defraggler. Although I tend to prefer Diskeeper more than Defraggler due to it’s ability to perform real-time defragmenting, Diskeeper is not free. However, Defraggler is a close second to Diskeeper and is completely free of charge.

Coincidentally, Defraggler is made by the same company as CCleaner. It seems that Piriform is on a roll when it comes to developing and releasing free and useful utilities. Google the term “defraggler”, download it, use it. Leave it running overnight, as it will probably take several hours to finish.

The Clean-Up Proces – Step by Step

The order you use these free computer repair tools are up to you, but as a professional who has done this more times that I can count, here is my recommendation for how to use these free tools to speed up your slow computer.

Use Startup Inspector for Windows to remove unneeded programs from startup

Reboot

Use CCleaner to clean junk files from the system

Clean the registry with CCleaner

Reboot

Update Malwarebytes and scan. Remove anything it finds.

Reboot if it recommends you to do so.

Update Avast and scan. It should quarantine anything it finds automatically.

Reboot if needed.

Use CCleaner (again) to clean up any junk left over from the virus removal.

Yes, clean the registry with CCleaner one more time, also.

Defrag the hard drive to reorganize the remaining “good” data on your drive.

Conclusion

In 9 out of 10 cases, using these 5 free utilities will have your computer back up to speed. If you properly utilize these tools and your computer is still not functioning properly, it doesn’t mean that the tools did not work.

Perhaps your computer problem is beyond the scope of these tools. Maybe you don’t have a sufficient amount of RAM memory. There is also a possibility that your computer has a serious hardware issue (such as a failing hard drive) which requires the attention of a computer repair professional.

Luckily there a hundreds of websites on the Internet that will provide free advice to those in need. They won’t do the work for you for free, but will be glad to provide information and resources to help you help yourself. There are even a few that offer free video training on how to repair your own computer. By doing your homework and asking a lot of questions, you can learn to solve any computer problem without spending any money at all.

Good luck.

This article is about “Hardware firewall bypass”, we hope to bring more articles about “Hardware firewall bypass” in the near future:

Reorganizing the file system

Go to ?Start? > ?Run? > Type in ?defrag? and press ?Enter?

Select which drive you?d like to defrag (normally this will be C:)

Click OK to start defragging

Side Notes

This should be done about once a month.

It will normally take a few hours to complete depending on how fragmented the drive is and the size of the drive.

Start the scan before you go to bed and by the time you wake up the drive should be defragged.

Cleaning up your Startup

Go to ?Start? > ?Run? > Type in ?msconfig? and press ?Enter?

Go to the ?Startup? tab

Uncheck everything that does not say ?System Tray? or have to do with a firewall or antivirus

Once this is done click apply and reboot

Side Notes

By doing this you are preventing these programs from starting up when windows loads. This does not mean you can not use these programs it just means they are not using up resources right away. The more things that startup right away, the fewer resources you have for windows and other programs.

Releasing and Renewing your IP

Go to ?Start? > ?Run? > Type in ?winipcfg? and press ?Enter? (for Windows 98)

Go to ?Start? > ?Run? > Type in ?command? and press ?Enter?

Once in the DOS prompt type ?ipconfig /release? and press ?Enter?

Then type ?ipconfig /renew?

Side Notes

If your ISP has gone through some changes or your IP has changed and you can?t get online this releases what ever IP was bound to your network adapter and asks for a new one. This is normally useful when getting your computer back after being in for repairs.

Reduce recycle bin

Right click on the recycle bin on your desktop.

Go to ?Properties?

Under the Global tab (which is the default tab) drag the slider so that it is 1% instead of 10%

Then click ?Apply?

Side Notes

On an 80GB drive this will still leave you with 800MB for your recycle bin to hold. After you have changed the size, you will need to run defrag. This will reorganize where files go on the hard drive and increase the performance of your computer because your windows files will be located on the outer most part of the hard drive which is the fastest turning part of the hard drive.

Clearing Out your Temporary Internet Files

Right click on the Internet Explorer icon.

Click on ?Properties?

In the ?General? tab (Which is the default tab) click the button that says ?Delete Files??

Side Notes

Temporary internet files allow surfing the web to become faster and more seamless. However, these files tend to have javascript viruses hidden in them as well as use up a lot of your hard drive space.

Clean up Cookies

Right click on the Internet Explorer icon.

Click on ?Properties?

In the ?General? tab (Which is the default tab) click the button that says ?Delete Cookies??

Side Notes

Despite what some people may say, cookies are not a bad thing to have on your computer. Cookies are a way for websites to keep track of certain information. VERY seldom is important information ever held in them, also ONLY that site has access to the cookies that it has created and is normally encrypted beyond recognition to a normal user. Cookies are simply an important tool to web developers and can make your surfing experience more enjoyable. Don?t fear the cookie monster.

Keep Drivers Up to Date

There is no generic way to tell you how to keep your drivers up to date. The only thing you can really do is make a list of all the components in your computer. E.g. MSI K7N2 Delta motherboard, creative SB Audigy, realtek 8139c? Go to the manufacturers of these parts and find a download page for the drivers and make sure that the driver is new. If it is download it and install it.

Run Windows Updates

Go to ?Start? > ?Programs? > ?Windows Updates?

Once there install there latest updater software and click on the recommended link.

Side Notes

By keeping your windows operating system up to date you prevent yourself from being hacked and getting certain viruses and other glitches in the software. This will also improve the performance of your computer and other pieces of software or hardware in your computer.

Keep Virus Definitions Up to Date

Make sure that your virus definitions are at most one week old. Considering how many viruses come out on a daily basis, having your definitions more than a few days old can cause you serious damage. Do not trust any automatic updaters, do the update yourself by actually running through the steps for your software.

Keep Desktop Clean

I see a lot of computers come in with every program and document they know of right on their desktop. What you should do is categorize your information. If you have certain files and programs that relate to work or accounting or your kids or school, create a separate folder on your desktop and put that information into it. You can increase your use by just organizing your desktop a little better.

Don?t use desktop backgrounds

Right click anywhere on your desktop that is blank.

Click on ?Properties?

Select the ?Desktop? tab

Below the picture of the monitor you?ll see it say ?Background:?

Go to the top of that list and select ?None?

Side Notes

If you have a highly detailed picture as your background it can seriously decrease you computers performance. By setting it to none, you still have a choice of color for the background.

Don?t Use Vacuum

We?ve heard a few too many people tell us they?ve cleaned the dust bunnies out of their computer with a vacuum. This is a big no no. The suction from the vacuum against the plastic nozzle creates static. Static is a computers worst enemy. If you need to clean those dust bunnies out use a can of compressed air (Make sure computer is turned off)

Turn Off Monitor Only

Most people seem to feel that turning the computer off will increase the life expectancy of their several hundred dollar investment. This is false, by continuously turning the computer on and off you continuously heating everything inside up, then cooling it down. This in turn makes the parts inside expand and contract which can create really small cracks. By only turning off the monitor and leaving the computer running 24/7 you will actually increase the life of your computer.

Keep 2-3 Feet Above Ground

Remember those dust bunnies we were just talking about, you won?t have to worry about them nearly as much if you have the computer 2 to 3 feet above the ground and in a ventilated room. If you leave it inside a computer desktop that has the backed covered you will still get dust bunnies.

Don?t open unless you REALLY know what you are doing

Normally if you open your own computer case you void ALL warranties to any parts. Not only that but if you just pet your cat or dog or standing on carpet and reach in to your computer you have a high probability of shocking a piece of your hardware. This shock might fry the component right away or could cause damage that you see go gradually. DO NOT OPEN YOUR CASE UNLESS YOU ARE US.

Don?t get a friend who knows ALL about computers to fix it

This is not a polite suggestion. We have come to realize that apparently the world is full of people that ?KNOW ALL ABOUT COMPUTERS?. These people are not as good as we are. We do this day in day out, this is not just our job this is our hobby. So please ask us before you ask that person. You can save yourself a lot of headaches.

Backup Your Data

It is a good idea to frequently backup any important data onto a separate hard drive, cd, dvd, usb drive or other external media. This will save you a lot of headaches in the long run when you realize that your hard drive is dead and can?t be recovered.

Keep track of software

Keep track of ALL software that came with your computer. Not only may you need it at a later date, but if you bring your computer in to be repaired, the techs will most likely need them to fix your computer.

Surge Protection

One of the worst things that can happen to a computer is a power spike or drop. To prevent your computer from being harmed in this occurrence, it is a good idea to get a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) which will protect you from almost any power irregularity. A cheaper solution is to get a good surge bar these will only protect you from power spikes but can still be quite helpful in protecting your computer.

Get a Firewall

As long as you are connected to the internet you are vulnerable to hackers. They do not care who you are, where you are from, or what is on your computer. Hackers simply care that there is an open connection that they can exploit. The best type of firewall is a hardware firewall. You can use a router or a small cheap machine as a hardware firewall and will normally cost anywhere from $50-$100. The next best thing would be a software firewall like Zone Alarm or Norton Personal Firewall. These are easier to bypass than a hardware firewall, but some protection is better than none.

Uninstall Unused Programs

Unused programs take up space and can cause incompatibility between other software and even hardware. It is a good idea to uninstall anything that you don?t use.

This article is about “Antivirus livecd best”, we hope to bring more articles about “Antivirus livecd best” in the near future:

A brilliant tool for recovery of lost data files is what is known as a Live CD. In it’s most basic form a Live CD is a self contained operating system that runs directly from a CD or DVD without installation.

If your computer hasn’t totally gone to PC heaven and you can still get into the BIOS you can set it to boot up from the DVD drive. If you’ve got a really old computer you may not have this option. Once you can boot up from the DVD drive the Live CD will take over and boot up as just another operating system. The beautiful thing is if your hard drive hasn’t totally self destructed it’s more than likely that you can recover most of the data files on it.

Better yet, if the corruption wasn’t due to a mechanical failure but rather some sort of electrical surge it’s more than likely that the drive is still good to go with a fresh installation. Just copy all of your important files onto some other media and then re-install your fave operating system.

Other options involve some sort of data recovery software that work by scanning your hard drive for deleted files. How does this work. Let me explain. When you delete a file from your computer the file is actually left intact. What has really happened is that the files location on the hard drive has merely been removed from the File Allocation Table or FAT which is a simple database of all the files on your hard drive and their location.

It’s very important that you don’t install or copy any large files onto your hard drive before you do the recovery process. Even though the file is still intact, the space that the file is residing on is now available for the operating system to write any new files to. Installing software or writing large files may fill up this space with the new information thus truly deleting anything you may have been able to recover. The best advice I can give is prevention. Get yourself into a regular data backup routine so you never have to worry about how you’re going to recover lost data files.

This article is about “Original xbox hard drive iso”, we hope to bring more articles about “Original xbox hard drive iso” in the near future:

The Xbox 360 disk has a complicated encryption and makes it more difficult to copy it because of the said file type. However, as you well know, there is no such thing now in the world of technology that anyone cannot crack. It is not difficult to have an Xbox 360 game backup for as long as you know what to do and you have the tools. You should not treat this lightly because at one time or another, your Xbox disks will get scratched. Besides, it is a lot better to use backup copies and preserve the original ones as collection items.

The things you will need are FTP connection between your computer and your Xbox, an X-ISO file for the disk, a DVD-ROM drive, and an empty re-writable DVD disk. The first step in having an Xbox 360 game backup is to build an FTP connection. Make sure that your Xbox is flashed. Once you are ready, go to your Xbox dashboard and settings and set the IP to 192.168.0.100. Change the subnet mask too to 255.255.255.0 and ensure that the static IP is turned ON, not OFF. Connect the Xbox to your PC’s Ethernet port and go to your PC’s Network Connection. Click on Internet Protocol and click Use the Follow IP and replace it with 192.168.0.1and change the subnet mask to the same as mentioned earlier.

Next, create an X-ISO for file for your Xbox 360 game backup by installing a software program that can decrypt and copy the X-BOX 360 game disk. Click on FTP folder then select the source of the game you want to copy which is either in the console’s hard drive or the disk. Once the X-ISO file is saved, you may now proceed and burn it on a DVD disk as you normally would with burning other data types. Make sure that your Xbox 360 game backup can be read by the Xbox 360 console by changing its mod chips.
